2009-01. City Farms & Centre - 11 July 2009

Through Bedminster, Redcliffe, the Centre, St Pauls, St Werburghs, City farm cafe, Frome Greenway, Old Market and return to Windmill Hill City Farm.

Sue's ride started in Bedminster and explored historic Bristol with its former plague pits, old potteries, lime kilns, Frome culvert, the old tram interchange and more.   The ride started  through Southville and crossed Coronation Road to take the chocolate path by the River Avon.

We saw the old 'new' cut, passed over Redcliffe caves, passed the General Hospital,  looked at Waring House, past St Mary Redcilffe Church and via Queens Square through the old city area to St James Fayre (now James Barton) and Portland Square in St Pauls.

In St Werburghs we saw the rock climbing centre housed in a 15th C church and looked at the interesting co-operative style contemporary houses in Boiling House lane before reaching St Werburghs City Farm.  Then we retraced over Newfoundland Way to see the new Champion Square, old Great Western Hotel near Old Market, the new home zone at Barton Road and new cycle bridge by Temple Meads and returned below Windmill Hill to finish at the cafe at Windmill Hill City Farm near the start point.
